Suunto watches are primarily for sporting use, although they do also produce certain medical related devices such as heart rate monitors.  Many of Sunnto's watches come equipped with compasses for hikers, GPS, altimeters, and barometers.  Their range of uses therefore does sprawl out into the scientific community, as well as boating.  Anything which requires extra super-modern type features, Suunto seems able to provide.
